As part of an ongoing commitment to guide our schools to continued excellence in the years ahead, the Penn-Harris-Madison Board of School Trustees has supported a strategic process to gather information for planning. John Pinter with Silver Fox Advising, who is an experienced trainer-consultant, has been leading the process. He has held many focus groups and personal interviews to gather information from a variety of people in the community including parents, business leaders, elected officials and others.
Discovery Middle School is one of 286 schools recognized by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan as a 2013 National Blue Ribbon School. "Excellence in education matters and we should honor the schools that are leading the way to prepare students for success in college and careers,' said Secretary Duncan. The National Blue Ribbon Schools award honors public and private elementary, middle and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in student achievement.
The Superintendent's Luncheon will feature Miss America 2014, Nina Davaluri, along with Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz and P-H-M Superintendent Dr. Jerry Thacker, 2012 Indiana Superintendent of the Year. The event will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22 in the Windsor Park Conference Center and Teachers Credit Union is the presenting sponsor. You won't want to miss hearing Dr. Thacker's State of the Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation address along with remarks by Miss America and State Superintendent Glenda Ritz.
